About this user

Yoel Culiner was born in Jerusalem on September 26, 1989. In the years 2000-2002 Yoel resided in Denmark. At age 12 he won first prize, as well as a special talent prize in the Young Musicians Competition held in Denmark. At the same year Yoel won second prize in the BT competition for young musicians in Copenhagen. He was invited to appear with the Århus Symphony Orchestra, and in 2003, at age 13, he performed the first movement of Mozart's Flute Concerto in G major with the orchestra. On his return to Israel he performed the same piece with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. 2003 also saw him perform in the President of Israel's official residence for President Katzav. In the summers of 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Yoel participated in the chamber music workshops held in Beit Daniel. He is a flautist in the Israeli Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. In 2003, 2005 and 2007, Yoel was awarded scholarships by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, in 2005 with "excellence". He has participated in master classes conducted by the flautists Mathieu DuFour, Andras Adorian, Vincent Lucas, Aurele Nicolet and Tomas Jensen. In 2006 Yoel performed as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic under the baton of Zubin Mehta, as well as in the International Music Festival in Kibbutz Kfar Blum as part of a trio ensemble. Since the age of 17, Yoel has been filling in as a substitute with The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Broadcasting Authority. Yoel studies at the High School of the Academy for Dance and Music in Jerusalem. He is a student of the flautist, Noam Buchman.
