Just to remind you it is a free vortex, meaning that there is no any pumping from beneath, no anything disturbing the downstream flow, nothing that may induce wave generation, except the vorticity itself. The wave generation was the vortex feature that caught first my attention, stimulating to run all other observations.

Forgot to mention a really important detail! The drain was configured having a small gap the waves could exit back into the pool and propagate away from the vortex, thus keeping the upper developments within the thin upper water layer. The funnel vertical developments were kept as free of potential disturbances as possible, just to make the configuration as similar as possible to that probably existing in the vicinity of a Black Hole vortex on the top of two-dimensional spacetime fabric.

These are vortexes, associated with the spinning super-massive Black Holes, which induce gravitational spiral waves.

Spiral wave, which traveling along the space-time continuum, transfer the energy to the distant massive objects.

Once the wave reaches another super-massive object and gets into the associated space-time dip, it induces a strong force-forward interaction apparently causing a tsunami-like repelling effect.
