YU DARVISH

Yu Darvish's father is an Iranian businessman and his mother is a Japanese woman. At sixteen, Darvish was playing baseball in Sendai and demonstrated ace pitching, striking out eleven consecutive batters with an 87 MPH pitch. Darvish was scouted by several Minor League teams, but chose to remain in Japan, where he was drafted in the first round of the 2004 draft by the Fighters.
