"For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People." So goes the motto of Yellowstone National Park, but ever since Congress created it in 1872, Yellowstone has been a center of controversy. Bison, wolves, bears, hunters, recreationalists, ranchers, and conservation groups all have a stake in this complex and contested ecological zone. The films here, produced by graduate students in Montana State's Science and Natural History Filmmaking program (naturefilm.montana.edu), explore some of the major debates that concern the park and its wider natural corridor, sometimes called the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
