YAFFAs stands for Youth Arts Festival Film Awards. YAFFAs are a competition running in association with and during the International Youth Arts Festival 2010.
This is an opportunity for budding film makers under the age of 26 to make a short film that will be presented on the awards and screening night at Kingston College on the 11th July 2010.
There are two categories of entry:
Category 1: 1 minute, stop motion:
Entrants must produce a short, 1 minute film in the style of stop-motion filming. This can be filmed on anything from a mobile phone to a webcam or a digital camcorder. This category is open to anyone from amateur to semi-professional.
Category 2: 5 minutes, anything goes:
Entrants must produce a short film of up to 5 minutes in length, using any style, technique or genre that they wish. This category is for those who have had past experience of film making.
There are no restrictions on the content for the films, however, anything deemed too explicit eg violent, excessive use of bad language, sexually explicit, racist, etc will be disqualified and removed from the competition.
If entrants are unsure of what to do for their films they may use the overriding theme of the festival for inspiration, 'The river and culture'.
Entrants must submit all entries as responses to the relevant category video on the YAFFAs youtube channel, along with an accompanying message including all group members names, ages and contact information eg email address'.
