I dont fully understand what Darwinism is but evolution is an orthodox view of Islam. It originated in Baghdad by Al Jahiz (Abu Uthman ibn Bahar) d.869 CE. He wrote the book "Kitab Al Hayawan" where he wrote an early theory of evolution. He put the greatest weight on evolution on the sturggly for existence.
Jahiz described three mechanisms. These are Struggle for Existence, Transformation of species into each other, and Environmental Factors.
