You have all been misled to believe that the X-Clamps were the problem with the Xbox 360's Red Ring problem
And Microsoft loves it!! Because it removes thousands of Xboxes daily!
Do you seriously think that if bolting the heats sinks worked Microsoft would have incorporated it in to the next generation Xbox ((Think!!!))
The fact is that using bolts on your GPU & CPU makes things worse than if you just properly reinstall the X-Clamps
Because by smashing your chips in to the motherboard you run the risk of cracking the board or snapping the very tiny wiring leading to the chips as it forces your motherboard to bow under the presser!
Heating your Xbox using its own power is the leading cause of irreversible damage!
It causes arching below the chips at the solder contacts and can, and usually does, burn away the solder contact making it no longer able to reflow.
Add both the above so-called "fixes" and you will likely have a un-repairable Xbox!
I say likely! Because if you're lucky you only made mush out of the 2000+ .60 solder balls below the chip! And if you have a qualified repairman in your town that can remove the chip from the motherboard and re-ball and replace the chip.
Which is almost worth buying a new Xbox, when it comes to the price.
To make all this worse video stores owners have started repairing Xboxes using YouTube as a repair guide!
And the books being sold on YouTube & the internet are YouTube Fixes with one or two personal touches to get you to buy unnecessary Bolts, washers and heat sinks!
If you do a YouTube repair on your Xbox you have a 1 in 10 chance of it lasting 7 days, a 1 in 1,000 of lasting 30 days, and a 1 in 10,000 chance of it lasting 4 months
I have never seen a YouTube repair last longer than 4 Months
So don't get overcharged by dumbasses doing YouTube Fixes! Or showing you how to do a YouTube Fix!
If you decide to have someone else fix your X-Box, Ask them if they will be removing the X-clamps in your X-Box and bolting the GPU or CPU down, Or if they heat the X-box with its own power to reflow chips? ((If so)) Run do not walk! They are a YouTube Repairer. And if the repair lasts a week to two weeks you will be lucky
The X-Clamps are not the defect of the Xbox! And bolting down the GPU and CPU Makes things worse!
Heating the Xbox using its own power can and will permanently damage your Xbox by Melting the plastic parts in the disk drive and frying the solder contacts under the chips making your box forever worthless!
Ask to see their equipment used to repair your Xbox if they don't have a T-870A BGA IR Rework Station or its equivalent. Do not use them!
