Sunglasses are very important just reduce harmful UV rays in any activity. Also while cycling at higher speeds, a protective lens/goggle prevents road debris and bugs from hitting you in the eyes.

I don't get all the hype about this being fake. Like many mentioned about frame rate versus rpm, it should answer any doubts. Also, the skill of this pilot is impressive, but not so unbelievable that this needs to be faked. It's not like the pilot landed on an egg without cracking it.
