Hello,The positions I share here will mainly focus on issues I believe are wrong in our country and how, as President, I would expeditious right them as much as possible using Executive Order and other legal options open, creatively if necessary. I would also work to pass the needed changes through Congress (when possible).
(Please visit AmericansElect.org
and choose our next President)
My beliefs are either conservative or liberal depending on the issue, so as a voter I am independent. I agree with and admire FDR for his willingness to think creatively and take bold steps to confront the economic challenges our country faced in his time.
I also whole heartedly agree with John F. Kennedy when he said, "Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer."
I firmly believe that no one person or group has all, or the best answers. My opinions and ideas may be the same as yours, I don't claim special insight, just the willingness to see and think and learn. I also believe an idea who's time has come, can have many authors.
I have been a Blue Collar worker all my life and consider myself a 'Blue Collar' Capitalist.
Meaning, that real reformation of Capitalism is necessary. Capitalism must be refined and managed to equally benefit the working people and our nation as much as business.
I believe that financial success (profit) for the employee is as important as for the employer. Capitalisim as we know it, is out of balance and unfair. It must be changed, it must be made serve, not master. For these reasons I believe we must create our own form of State Capitalism...American State Capitalisim.
I believe a high quality of life for everyone should be advanced through a strong, benevolent, common sense, Central Government. We must not continue as a "house divided." We are not fifty countries, we are one.
I believe in a strong military and a flat income tax. I believe in the right of the individual to own property and to bear arms. I believe in the separation of Church and State, that no religious organization become the official ruling power or officially endorsed by our government. I believe in the freedom of assembly. I believe in the right of the people to responsible free speech and the freedom to responsibly protest, meaning there are limitations to the exercising of our rights, that the rights of any one person or group never infringe on the rights of others.
I also believe Divine Intervention will correct the issues that human governments cannot or will not correct. That while we wait on that intervention we must live and govern responsibly. You will notice my views at times have a spiritual side to them.
I am a strong believer in free and critical thinking, that dissent is good. That no person or subject be off-limits. That every belief be open to review and revision. That the ultimate truth of any matter is both an irresistible force and an immovable object. My loyalty is to what I believe to be true, rather than any person, ideology or religion.
I am not a member or active in any organized religion. I live a spiritual life as an individual Christian. I believe the bible is God's inspired record for humanity, that it contains His word without it entirely being His word. I believe God designed the bible to be historical as well as prophetic. Meaning that it also contains the personal opinions and decisions of individuals which are not intended by God to be in any way interpreted by us as divine law or principles to live by. I also believe God's judgment not to be infallible.
As for my religious background, I was born and raised as a Catholic, became non-practicing in my early teens. In my late teens I became a Jehovah's Witness (a high control Christian religion). I was a Witness for about 30 years and still hold to select teachings I believe to be correct.
Poor judgements - As a young man drugs, alcohol and promiscuity were a regular part of my life. I did not graduate High School, at 17 I enlisted in the Army and was Gung-Ho until my contract was voided, then I lost interest completely. I was discharged 'General under Honorable conditions' after serving only half my term of enlistment. I married at age 20, became a father of two, after 15 years we separated then divorced because of my infidelity during our lengthy separation.
