NEW April 2010: Third Annual May 9 is a go! Tune in May 1-9 for a new video each day.
As you can tell from the videos, I primarily play White Stripes songs. My general philosophy is to treat them as fluidly as possible--the way Jack seems to treat the songs he covers. With that in mind, I do try to do the songs justice, but I do not strive to produce "exact replicas" of their songs.
In fact, I rarely try to reproduce their songs "perfectly," but you will find some of my covers are more "spot on" than others. Don't worry about posting a comment about how I "almost got it right" or have a song "pretty close"--odds are I've made decisions in the arrangement and have interpreted it with my own feeling, tone, and playing style--as you should do as you consider covering songs you like. (If Jack covered songs like "Death Letter"and "Conquest" to be replicas of the originals, they wouldn't have that perfect White Stripes feeling to them, would they?) Rock-and-roll is feeling and experimentation, and The White Stripes are as traditional, main line rock-and-roll as it gets.
If you're a guitarist and you'd like to share ideas or ask questions, feel free to contact me.
I hope you enjoy my covers as much as I enjoy sharing them.
