BOOMHEADSHOT! New Cannon! Fucking cows...
This is my latest (and neatest) cannon to date with a stacked inverter delay system and a setup that allows for aiming. I based my aiming setup off of ZirumsHeroTWR's setup. Thanks to him for that.

Thanks to David (DC010) for showing me the wonders of Minecraft artillery and how it is put together!
I made a cannon and delay circuits to start off, then made a couple of switches to use with it, but I was so far back from the action! I decided on making this awesome arty bunker with a control and loading room.
I took his cannon design, then added my own delay circuits onto either side of the command center underground. I used 18 inverters for the short delay and 28 inverters for the long delay, both sets arranged in a linear fashion.
The reason for this is to set the ammo off a set time after the charge so they don't all blow up together and quite literally blow the roof off the place! It allows the ammo to be propelled forward by the blast, which is channeled forward by the water flow. (You don't really need obsidian. Cobblestone will work fine, but one backfire in your testing stages and you'll be rebuilding it, I promise.)
The short delay gives you about 2 seconds after the main charges are lit. The long delay gives you about 4, or double the short. (My estimates could be off, but at least my point is illustrated.)
I tried push buttons at first, but the amount of time a flow of energy was needed exceeded the limits of the second-long push button. The only problem with levers is that you need to remember to flip them BACK once you're done. I learned that you can place TNT next to a live redstone wire and it won't go off until you shut the wire off which, for some reason, doesn't work like it does the original way. (Remember what I said about literally blowing the roof off the place?)
This was definitely an awesome way to kill an afternoon.

This is my own initial design of a two stage combination lock in Minecraft. The way this lock works is that you need the correct combination AND the correct buttons on the second stage to actually open the door. It won't work any other way.
I recently started learning how to use redstone (read: yesterday), so for you redstone vets out there, forgive the craziness of my design. I tried to make it as straightforward as possible while maintaining functionality. I've already got the second version in the works with push buttons (instead of levers) using RS Nor Latches for circuitry and a reset switch once you get through the door.
Comment, please!
