I have set up this channel on YouTube to share some live footage of some of my 1970s vintage DEC equipment.
I learned to program back in 1976 on a DEC PDP-11/40 computer at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Our computer was called the Wofford Witch, and it ran the RSTS/E timesharing system. We programmed the system using BASIC-PLUS on terminals such as the LA36 DecWriter II, the VT50 DecScope, and the noisy old ASR-33 teletype.
Back around 2003-2004 I began a project to locate a real PDP-11 and recreate the Wofford computer center, complete with peripherals. In December 2004, I finally got a PDP-11/40 up and running with DecScopes, DecWriters, and an ASR-33. I also began collecting other DEC equipment of the 1970s and try to maintain everything in working condition.
The videos on this page were made in my shop and show the vintage equipment in action.
