@Vineon I think it would've greatly exacerbated the the flight of residents, jobs, and businesses from Quebec. As a financial and corporate centre, Toronto has been kicking Montreal's ass. I can only imagine things would be worse if Quebec seceeded.

Did anybody else notice the work they're doing on the Slauson overpass (at DT junction)? They're replacing the bridge supports to make room for a third track!

Are they really triple tracking the whole San Bernardino subdivison? I thought it was only as far as Fullerton, with money coming from the state, mainly to expedite Surfliner and Orange County Line trains.

Does the Sunset Limited always go over the former SP or do they sometimes use Metrolink's San Bernardino Line between El Monte and Union Station? One Sunset Limited route description mentions running in the I-10 median just east of LA which is the Metrolink line. Obviously not the case in this ...

Speaking of the narrow rock cut at the Washington Bridge, did they ever manage to remove the speed restriction there? Every time I rode, we crawled at 15 mph. But on this tape, he looks to be doing 50. Granted, this was recorded shortly after the Westside Connection opened.

I think the main purpose of the Bypass is to speed up Cascades trains and extend Sounder service. How many freight trains are expected to use it? Passenger trains clear crossings a lot faster than long freights do.
