About this user
☼A singer and song writer since the day he could talk, William Leavitt has always found expression through music. He began composing songs as early as three and by the age of 8, young Leavitt was strumming his dads 12 string guitar and tapping rhythms with his feet. While growing up in Farmingdale, ME William explored every avenue of expression, from Irish folk to Quebequois, from African rhythms to Jazz, from the Grateful Dead to Ellis paul.
☼Imbued with a sense of tradition from his great grandfather through the generations to his own father, William strived to bring his family heritage to the next level. He left no stone unturned in his quest to quench the thirst of the soul that begged to be fed through sound. Williams style has evolved through the different influences and people of his life to currently come to rest in the genre of Folk with a blues rock fusion. From butterflies to mistakes, from trains to finding closure, Williams lyrics are aimed directly at the heart as he feels every experience lends itself to song. As William grew in talent and technique he began to perform where ever he could find ears to hear. He has performed in such places as Johnson Hall and the Hallowell Bandstand to the Canadian coffee houses of St. John, St Steven and St. Andrews to the open mikes of Southern Maine. William is a well rounded musician at the age of 21 whose music continues to evolve.
☼When asked about his audience William says that his one goal is to connect at the heart and share the feeling of having been there. There being that place of hardship and lessons, of finding compassion and the will to survive, of looking a stranger in the eye and knowing you already have something in common. William seeks to share that song of life and revel in its evolution as it reveals itself, note by note, song by song and friend by friend. His music is music that connects us all, at our roots and in our souls.
