musicman24X, the only difference between making a boffer spear, is the length of the handle and length of the padding representing the spearhead/blade. Boffers using the round formed foam (such as fun noodles or pipe insulation) aren't really going to look much more different from one another aside from the very obvious length of the handle and blade. Whatever you call it (a claymore, a short spear, a naginata, pike, Iklwa, or Bob) is up to you. Peace.

Hey. I'm curious about something. Have any of your students or you ever learned/used anything like the Zulu Iklwa? A short spear, about a 19" blade, 19" handle, very rapid and deadly. If not, I think you should look into making a boffer version of one. The're pretty awesome and very deadly, especially when paired with a shield.
