Youri Blow (b.March 6,1981) is an French guitarist and singer-songwriter.
His inspiration is rooted in the old Delta Blues of the 30's: the blues of Son House, Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson and many others. The Blues ...his source ...has come down through the years to inspire artists like Jimmy Hendrix, the Doors and Pink Floyd, who are also part of Youri's universe.
For years, Youri has been nourished by the Blues, whose strength, he claims, lies in mixing angels and devils, happiness and suffering. For Youri, this mixture of contrasts is a quest, a main theme in his creation which he defines today as "Psyche-Blues". The Psyche is soul, spirit and breath and it is energy from the heavens. Blues is a song which rises from the earth, it is gut emotion. Embued with songs and traditional music from lands as diverse as Japon , Mongolia, Turkey and Peru, Youri tries to bring out in his music this union between heaven and earth, dream and reality. In his first album "Moon Rock My Soul", Youri Blow gave us refined sounds from his guitar, accompanied with a subtle sonorous universe inviting us on a journey...
Since that recording in 2008, Youri has undertaken two years of interior exploration, two years of a solitude necessary to strengthen his own very personal musical style: Psycheblues. This solitude was enriched with an initiatory trip to Mongolia living with the Tsaatane tribe. The evidence is his recording of a new album "The Corridor"; a long tunnel of introspection opening out into light and also a deliberate playing on opposites. Youri succeeds in fact in producing a clear, almost religious sound, in the title song of the album, just as easily as he offers a raucous voice, plumbing the depths of a "Strange History".
