That Jeep needs locking differentials, otherwise the torque goes to the wheels with the least amount of traction. With the axles locked, you get all four wheels getting equal torque, which is much better.

@RetroCaptain Without a locking differential, it means the engine's torque goes to the path of least resistance, which can be either wheel on the axle, forward or reverse. If the left wheel is easier to spin, it gets the torque, if the right wheel spins easier, it gets the torque.
