Yes, I figured that these playlists would be lots of food for thought, and that we could even pick up a few new things to play around with at practice. I did notice the body alignment issues on Twirch Ringen, as well as on the various dagger combat videos. With the "Leg Drag" video, the guy's body dynamics indicated that he was either heavily influenced by collegiate wrestling, or he was trying to make the leg drag itself look uber-cool ala WWE. With some of the Ringen am Schwert, the guy executing the technique isn't dropping his center of gravity enough.

It's funny, all these groups have elements of our own Study Group's interpretation, but we have the best of ALL worlds, plus, we know WHY we're doing the things we do too. The "Twirch Ringen" guys from MEMAG are well rehearsed, but I don't know if they could do it at speed, because they leave themselves open a lot for things like punches and stuff, by not controlling the arms like we do in Ott's Grip, along with bending over too much and keeping their legs too straight. The Vaingloria guys doing the "Leg Drag" does the proper gripping, but treats it like it's just part of that particular move, and not understanding the deeper uses of that grip. For him it's just to use for certain techniques. Plus they're leaning a over a lot instead of keeping good balance. And I think we've already talked about the things we disagree with with the CollegeOfCombat stuff. Haven't looked at the other schools' sword stuff yet, I'll have to get back to you.
