Reading a couple comments here, I thought Id add a point. In verse 8 "commonly translated as "for the transgression of my people, he was stricken". The last word "LaMO" commonly translated as "to him" might be a mistake. There are ~50 times the word "LaMO" appears in the TaNaCH and in all cases,...

You might find it more difficult to find kabbalistic works translated into English because there have been numerous warnings from the Mishnaic times (specifically in theTosefta) and continuing on through later Rabbis against tea...

Two questions:
1. Why is the fact that "Elo-him"(as opposed to Elo-ha) is written in a plural form not enough of an indication of its being plural?
2. There are also Hebrew texts that speak of divine beings partaking of food, such as Abraham and the three angels. Did you mean that divine beings ...

I just want to point out that it doesn't say Abraham spoke to G-d face to face, just that he spoke to him. By Jacob it does say that he say G-d face to face, but it specifies that he "saw" "elohim", he didn't speak to Yahweh (also see Ex. 6:1). The Jewish understanding of that event is that it wa...

Another explanation for 2Kings 3 is that it was the Moabite king had sacrificed the Edomite king's son and the Edomite king was upset at Israel because he felt Israel was the one that caused it.
This would mean that Israel left from a confrontation with Edom.

Haha.
It's not strictly relevant, but I just wanted to add that even though Ecclesiasticus is non-cannonical, it is quoted in the Talmud.
I think "sitra" is the word that you wanted, not "gav". And I think you can drop the "hu". Also, "amakh" is "with" meaning two things that are together. I don't think that's what you meant here. The way you have it here would be translated better as "A dark back, it is strong alongside you, my s...
