ASPEN is a suicide prevention and early intervention program for Kanawha County, WV youth. ASPEN, through funding from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration, provides community awareness and education regarding suicide prevention and intervention, community training on improving clinical skill in working with suicidal youth, and community based intensive treatment services. Teams of a therpist and case manager respond to calls the same day that they are received to conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for ongoing treatment. Treatment services consist of assessment, crisis intervention, supportive intervention, individual and family therapy and case management services.
