Hey, a new local actually began operating earlier this week on the Canyon Sub running from Portola to Roseville and back 3 times a week. It is the LRC 67, and this week it operated with the UP 8603 (SD70ACe) and the UP 4905 (SD70M) for power. I caught it here in Oroville on Monday (10/31) on it's westbound maiden run. Pretty big power for a 4-car train operating in the Canyon, but I assume UP plans on business picking up in the future. Monday's westbound run featured no more than a mere 3 centerbeam cars, 2 loads, 1 empty, and an empty coal porter with a broken rear coupler. The LRC 67 is on call in Portola at 0500 (5am) Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and ties up at Roseville by afternoon. It's counterpart is on call at Roseville at 0200 Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday for the return trip.
