Hello people. I have been active on YouTube for some time now and have a wide spectrum of interests, exemplified by the wide range of videos I watch and comment on. These interests include (in no particular order); Pre-Raphaelite and some surrealist Art, European British and Middle Eastern history (various periods), urban demographics and cartography, monotheistic religions (A former Christian, I now regard myself as allmost paganistic though I do not subscribe to organised religion of any kind- I do however find the study of religion interesting), astronomy, some of my childhood nostalgia such as The Narniad, the paranormal- particularly ghosts and hauntings, most but not all classical music, trance music, some dance music, politics, climate change and social activism. I also find the concepts of time, longevity and the future to be of great interest.
Politically, I have been very active and describe myself as a radical centrist; that is to say I endorse some concepts usually aligned with the dogmatic terms of 'left' and 'right' I am a conservative on crime but liberal on welfare for instance. I care about my country deeply but am not blinded by its faults- I consider this healthy patriotism as opposed to jingoistic patriotism. I believe the United Kingdom is a progressive country in many ways but we still have some barriers to break. One such barrier is discrimination and prejudice against the unemployed. On this subject I admitedly have strong views. I firmly believe that people should be judged (if indeed they should be judged at all) by their individual persona and not by nationality, race, religion, employment status or social background. This is not because I subscribe to true political correctness- blunt honesty has its place, but I consider sweeping generalisations, in most cases, to be primitive thinking. As someone with a minor background in journalism I loathe the influence of the red top press. I follow current affairs widely. I enjoy seeing cities, though occasionally rural travel too. I also regularly go to the cinema. I consider my identity to be Northern Irish, British, European and a citizen of the world. I believe life is a gift and I won't deny I have ambition. I am contemplating being a boxer as well as writing a novel and teaching English abroad. I am currently conducting an extensive study into the history of London. At present I am somewhat disillutioned by party politics but do not rule this out for the future.
I regard my weaknesses as my temper and dwelling too much on things, which in turn leads to procrastination. I regard my streangths as a willingness to look deeper into issues and not naively follow the status quo. I try to be honest and I stand by my conviction. I will speak up against what I perceive to be injustice and occasionally I can be vocally explicit in this. Admitedly that is not diplomatic but I believe the only approach for some is to fight fire with greater fire. At the moment I am going through something of a Quarter Life Crisis which is becoming increasingly challenging. But im optimistic this phase will not last forever.
I am a perpetual thinker but I would conclude with this. There is a lot of cruelty in this world. Human beings can be fragile. People can be misunderstood. But we can also be strong and gregarious. Human nature is perpetually complex.
