Using the internet and print media, What Kids Can Do (WKCD) supports youth voices from around the world. We show what youth can accomplish when given the supports and opportunties they deserve and what they can contribute when we take their ideas and voices seriously.

We also produce a variety of books and media with youth as co-producers. We have a special series of books and videos for students who are or will be the first in their family to attend college.

Hi Carrie. Thanks for your comments. You're so right about the challenges and pressures w. regard to 1st gen students. Folks think that when they make it into college, that's the end of the story (and it sounds like a success story). But that's just the beginning...I'd love to chat with you by phone about your experiences. If you go to our website, wkcd.org, you'll see a phone number there for us. Best, Barbara Cervone

Hey, follow up w/me ... What's happening to the 1st gen kids (pressure for 6 year completion ... scholarships ending at 6 yr mark) really concerns me as a 1st gen student (and Presidential Scholar!) who took more than 4 yrs to finish for all the usual reasons. Your videos are great. There needs to be a book, because the people in DC don't watch videos. I'm on facebook Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club.
