Founded in 1983, Witness for Peace is a politically independent, nationwide grassroots organization of people committed to nonviolence and led by faith and conscience. WFPs mission is to support peace, justice and sustainable economies in the Americas by changing U.S. policies and corporate practices which contribute to poverty and oppression in Latin America and the Caribbean. Over the past quarter century, WFP has developed and maintained an energized nationwide base of 20,000 members, sent more than 13,000 people to Latin America and the Caribbean on short-term transformative delegations, and created real change for the people of Latin America by reducing destructive U.S. military aid and training while increasing humanitarian assistance in the hemisphere, promoting people-based economic relationships and protecting human rights.
