A great example of poor self esteem and desperation....She says she has a happy home, yet she is taking car of that man....he's a kept man....I hope that in 2012 this song can be used in Black history but I hope this is not what women see as the norm !

A beautiful and powerful version..belongs right alongside the great versions by the Spirit of Memphis ( the very best), Marion Williams, Bessie Griffin, Clara Ward and Brother Joe May....I wish we had recordings of Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith and Mahalia Jackson...a powerfu...

I sponsored Bessie in concert while I was in medical school and we became great friends...she was also an awesome cook. I loved her pork chop sandwiches. Definitely one of the greatest contraltos in American music.....and she could "moan and move a mountain!"

Dorothy sings lead in the beginning, then Mildred takes over. Two great ladies. I miss them both.

I saw this movie in a segregated theater in Brinkley, Ark. Needless to say there was very little eye contact between the Blacks and Whites as we came out of the separate exits of the theater. Mahalia's singing was awesome...one of the greatest contraltos in American music !

I love this...Dorothy is preaching at her best...I can hear Mildred responding in the background...the picture is of the Dorothy Love Coates Singers and not of the Harmonettes....gospel singing today doesn't move me like this..I saw them sing this several times

This is a perfedct song..and song perfectly by Vanessa Williams...You can feel her sincerity and strong belief....no acting here...just great singing

I got to know Mildred very well...She was a dear friend...and a great singer . She always carried herself in a respectful manner.

A great choir...the first Black group to have its own radio program....wow...they brought pride and good music to the Black community and to America..This is so beautiful. I have the original LP's.

Mildred is enjoying herself in her home over there.....we miss you over here !! She was really a great lady and terrific singer....
