I was in college in 1973 but was very lucky to get a summer job working at the huge McDonnell Aircraft plant in St. Louis. Although I was working on the very first block of F-15's, these F-4's were being built for the Luftwaffe at the same time. I even got to meet General Gunther Rall.

Nice video and a great choice of music. The Alco looks very nice as well; and wonder if it has a 26L brake system in it or something else. Good luck with your training, have fun with it but take it seriously. Even on a tourist railroad you can get hurt very quickly even after you get qualified.

Thank you for posting the wonderful video. I can see a lot of potential with this right of way even in it's present condition. Do the British have something similar to the U.S. Rails to Trails program? Converted to bike or walking trails, this old line could become quite attractive and popular.

Could someone please explain the significance of the white circles on the front end of the locomotives? There seem to be different numbers of them and they are in different positions.

Wonderful documentary! Thanks for posting it. I believe that most all of the railroad equipment used in this movie was very old World War I vintage; witness the belpaire firebox on the 4-6-0's used and the wooden cars which collapsed so easily in the wreck.

425 is the only surviving GM&O steam locomotive, and my grandfather was a member of the GM&O board of directors; so you'll understand if I say that the blue paint scheme is particularly unattractive for this engine.

I am sure there is a very good reason for a German fire department to have equipment such as this but I do not believe I have ever seen this before. The second vehicle looks like a garbage truck but I am sure it's not that

I have a locomotive engineer's license and I know that unless you are very familiar with both the locomotive and train handling dynamics, driving this could be quite terrifying.
