I think we should all take a tip the germany's highway.. and make it illegal to pass on the right going hand in hand with also making it illegal to linger in the left lane if a faster car is behind you... If you haven't figured it out yet, if sounds loud enough you should be able to have somebody grab ahold of all the connecting points of the steering carefully and you should be able to feel the the pop noise and figure out where it's coming from.

Remove the air intake and have somebody spray starter fluid, or brake clean or something in the thottlebody see it help that would tell you if its a fuel delivery issue or not
