Music, by its very nature is public. Those who make it, mostly want to share it. Musicians make their money at the door, from downloads, and commercial licensing. General non-commercial public and fan use, you'd think, would be encouraged as free advertising for the artist or label. WMG thinks otherwise, and are fighting a losing battle, turning fans off. If I was an artist with WMG, I'd be very sad indeed that my label was creating such hostility among the fan base. Many have boycotted purchasing WMG artists. If you think ideas and art should be available to all people, rich and poor, and should be built upon and transformed and appropriated and shared and changed, with liberty, then you are like us. You have the ultimate power; you can finance oppression, ignore it, or fight it. Sometimes ignoring it is very powerful.
