Hi Rob & HNY! I use an EQ all the time because it enhances clean tones beautifully (eg Blackface/Bassman are sparklier/clearer). An external EQ can give you tonal variation & control that you simply can't get from just the onboard EQ eg you can raise highs & bass together, scoop mids etc. You need a mono Y cable to connect a mono EQ in the FX loop (see Valvetronix.net FAQ for more info). Also, I recommend a BBE sonic stomp maximiser after the EQ in the FX loop to give an even bigger, punchier more '3D' sound. Feel free to pop into Valvetronix.net if you want to discuss further (as you-tube not designed to be a discussion forum). Best, Rich

Hey Voxman (Rich) - do you reckon the EQ is necessary in the FX loop of a blue-cloth series VT at all times, or just for higher-gain work? I have an AD60 (non VTX) but with a Jensen Neodymium speaker instead of the stock one (it was cheaper than a Celestion and as someone who also likes Fender amps it seemed a safe bet!!).

Congrats on the VT40+ - amp behaviour is as it should be. Factory presets have volume set at a specific (and different) level. If you touch any parameter, it goes to the real physical 'knob' position on your amp. Best to tweak in manual mode & save favourites to user memory. Go to Valvetronix.net to understand better how the amp works.

After watching your demo I went straight out and got a Vox VT40+ very happy overall, although when using presets if I adjust volume or gain the amp volume drops!! Does yours do the same? I get around it by only adjusting volume with the master. Is this normal?? Cheers

Thanks very much for looking in & glad you like it. I'm very well thanks albeit a bit tuckered out from studying & taking professional exams this week! Looking forward to relaxing this weekend & playing some guitar.

That's very kind, thank you. And I will do some more after my exams!
