A native of Los Angeles, California, bass-baritone Armon Golliday is no stranger to opera, oratorio, sacred or choral work. His operatic portrayals have included Figaro in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro", L'Arbre (the Tree) in Ravel's "L'enfant et les sortilèges" and Sarastro in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte", among others. Mr. Golliday is a tenured member of the Dallas Opera company and has also performed with many other professional ensembles, including the Dallas Bach Society, Orchestra of New Spain, A Cappella Choir and Collegium Singers. Mr. Golliday also served as soloist/section leader for the Cathedral Choir of St. Matthew's Cathedral for three years and recently served in the same capacity at Christ the King Catholic Church in Highland Park.

He has been a featured soloist in concerts in Venice, Italy, Salzburg and Vienna, Austria and other parts of Europe. In 2009, he was engaged by the Highlander Concert Series to perform the baritone solos in Ralph Vaughan Williams' acclaimed work, "Hodie", and has become a regular with the organization since. Noted especially for his interpretations of early music, Mr. Golliday's repertoire encompasses the works of Schütz and Händel to later composers such as Rossini and Mozart. To date, Mr. Golliday has performed in some 30 operas with The Dallas Opera and made his solo debut with the company in Puccini's "La Boheme" in the 2008/2009 season. In the 2009/2010 season, Mr. Golliday was a part of the critically acclaimed World Premier of Jake Heggie's "Moby Dick", and was also a part of the inaugural gala at the new Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, featuring soloists Thomas Hampson and Denyce Graves. Mr. Golliday has been fortunate enough to share the stage with such celebrated singers as Renée Fleming, Ruth Ann Swenson, Denyce Graves, Ben Heppner, Carol Vaness, Thomas Hampson, Patricia Racette and Vivica Genaux, among many others.

In the 2011/2012 Dallas Opera season, Mr. Golliday will appear in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor", Janáček's "Katya Kabanová", Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde", Verdi's "La Traviata" and Mozart's "The Magic Flute".

Mr. Golliday studied Vocal Performance at Dallas Baptist University, where he was awarded the Edmond T. Boettcher Vocal Scholarship, and continued his vocal studies at the University of North Texas.
