The classic College/youth/drinking song.
Lyrics in Latin and English:
Gaudeamus igitur, Juvenes dum sumus; Post icundum iuventutem, Post molestam senectutem Nos habebit humus.
Let us therefore rejoice, While we are young; After our youth, After a troublesome old age The ground will hold us.
Vita nostra brevis est, Brevi finietur; Venit mors velociter, Rapit nos atrociter; Nemini parcetur.
Our life is brief, It will shortly end; Death comes quickly, Cruelly snatches us; No-one is spared.
Ubi sint qui ante nos In mundo fuere? Vadite ad superos, Transite in inferos Hos si vis videre.
Where are those who before us Existed in the world? You may go up to the gods, You may cross into the underworld If you wish to see them.
Vivat academia, Vivant professores, Vivat membrum quodlibet, Vivat membra quaelibet; Semper sint in flore!
Long live the university, Long live the teachers, Long live each male student, Long live each female student; May they always flourish!

Today seven years have passed since Renata Tebaldi left this world. It is a consolation to know that there is a real saint in heaven praying for us all. I wish all my friends a blessed Holiday Season.

Renata Tebaldi sang La Forza del destino at Teatro Comunale di Firenze in MaggioMusicale Fiorentino the first time in 1953. Three years later she sang at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino La Forza del destino again. This tape , on june 8, 1956. I can't say what Tebaldi/Forza I like more, I love all them ('55 Scala, , this '56 Firenze '58 Naples, '60 New York) but between her two Firenze Forzas (1953 and 1956) I think she is better on the '56 (the one I uploaded) .The voice is heavier in 1956, more dramatic . The wonderful lyrical tenor Giuseppe Di Stefano sings Don Alvaro, a role not very well suited for his voice (he is a big lyrical, his voice was big but he was a lyrical tenor), however he is very good and I think this Forza is a major Verdian performance, headed by Renata Tebaldi, the greatest Leonora of the XX century. Leonora................................. ...................Renata Tebaldi Don Alvaro.................................. .............Giuseppe Di Stefano Don Carlo................................... .............Giangiacomo Guelfi Padre Guardiano............................... ....Giulio Neri
Conductor: Gabriele Santini Teatro Comunale di Firenze-Maggio Musicale Fiorentino June 8, 1956

Your words are so nice and motivating for the humble singer that I am. You're so right when you mean there is two things need to be a great singer.
I'm wishing you a year 2012 full of love and good music dear Marie.
Warm regards
Pierre
