About Me:
Born in 1964 in Santeramo in Colle (Bari), Italy, where he is still living.
HIS ARTISTIC STUDIES
In 1987 he graduated in guitar privately with full marks and praise, after several experiences in different genres of music and afterward he specialized and fostered his artistic education with Alirio Diaz, Oscar Ghiglia and Alberto Ponce. Since the end of the 1980s and over a decade, he was winner of numerous international and national competition such as: Petrini-Zamboni from Cesena, M. Giuliani from Bari, G.B. Pergolesi from Naples, XXVII° International Competition from Milan, N. Fago from Taranto, M. Donia from Messina, Rovere doro in Liguria and many others.
THE CONCERT PERFORMER
He has performed several concerts in Italy, France, Germany, England, Scotland, Switzerland, Hungary and Ireland, and also in prestigious concert rooms of art cities like Rome (Academy of Spain and Bank of Italy), Paris (University of Paris), Florence (Brunelleschis Salon Prints and Dantes Church), Edinburgh (St. Cecilia Hall), Dublin (National Concert Hall), Padua (Rossini Hall), Ravello (Villa Rufolo), Ferrara (Sala Estense). In 1996 he was called for the second time in Ireland as the only Italian musician at Dublin Guitar Week, International Festival organized by the Spanish Institute Cervantes and performed in the Royal Academy of Music in Dublin. In his capacity as soloist he has performed many concerts for guitar and orchestra such as Concierto de Aranjuez by J. Rodrigo; Concerto Op. 30 by Mauro Giuliani; Concierto Seferadì by Oscar Cesares; Concerto Op. 99 and Il Romancero Gitano by M. Castelnuovo Tedesco for chorus and guitar. In the chamber music field he has been a member of several ensembles such as the duo with flute, violin, harp, voice, percussion instruments, and even with a string quintet. Here, he has cooperated with a lot of famous artists like: the Italian singer Mario Rosini, the violinist Francesco DOrazio, the flautist Michele Bozzi and the Argentineans Oscar Roberto Cesares and Beatriz Fornabajo.
THE TEACHER AND THE AUTHOR
In 2000 he was already teacher at Conservatory and, among 150 candidates, he was awarded the first absolute prize obtaining the score of 100/100 at the First National Competition for teaching guitar in public school with music course, held in Rome. He is author of several didactic books, among which the bestseller base method LA CHITARRA VOLANTE, divided into three volumes with CD minus-one and published by Edizioni Curci, Milan. Since several years La chitarra volante, among all the methods of teaching the music instrument, has reached the Top Ten in Italy, as the most sold and used didactic book. The same method is used by lots of schools, foreign Conservatories like the Bloomington Music School of the USA directed by M° Ernesto Bitetti. Most appreciated and performed in lots of concerts Le 12 Danze Latino-Ameriacane for two guitars, published by Edizioni Curci and written to pay homage to the greatest composers of that genre of music. He is regularly invited to hold music master classes, concerts, conferences and workshops about didactics in Festivals dedicated to promote guitar playing and guitar based music (Alessandria, Florence, Gaeta, Pordenone, Naples, Brescia, Catania, Sassari, Parma, Siracusa Mottola, etc.). Reported numerous articles and interviews in musical revue such as: Suonare news, Il Giornale della Musica, Disma Music Magazine, Musica & Dischi, Guitar diffusion. His publications won numerous critics awards like the five stars in the music revue Seicorde and on the cover of Guitar.
THE MUSICIAN
Most appreciated as arranger of different kinds of music, in 1996 he founded LOrchestra Chitarristica Giovanile Pugliese, with which he held many concerts and even recorded a CD, with his music works titled Impressioni faunistiche. In 2000 he conceived the Magnificent Christmas Show, a big concert with more than 500 teenagers, who played and sang together, and furthermore in cooperation with international guests. In 2005 he set up the Movie Orchestra, an ensable of young musicians, who perform only music from the movies and for his originality in the space of two years he recorded another CD and held lots of concerts in Italy and abroad, gaining considerable public attention and critical acclaim. In 2009 he conceived, produced and performed an alternative recital for guitar, titled A maggia de na chitarra. Everything was based on personal arrangements of the classic Neapolitan repertory, supported by images and a storytelling voice.
