Some of the 23 musical intervals find application in the theory under Mr. Liu's discussion of voice leading and resolution of diatonic and chromatic harmonies up to and including augmented sixth chords. Most interesting is the interval labeled Big Octave (81/40) which the author says "is the interval between ...
His theory of intonation includes an analysis of how tuning and temperament affects voice leading in diatonic and chromatic harmony. the soprano and bass when both notes belong to the root of amajor chord. It is a comma bigger than the octave."
This theory of intonation includes an aspect of tuning and temperament which is becoming more popular. The idea that new theories of intonation can be based on fundamental values other than a ratio of 2:1 for the octave is very exciting. Practically all the theories of tuning and temperament in the past have been based on the axiom of a 2:1 equivalence for the octave. Today, However because of computer technology, tunings which are based on ratios other than the octave are possible to achieve quite easily.

Some examples of my scale structures has been listed into the "scales archive". Many softwares in some last years have since been developed so that the interval "octave" is no longer restricted to the fixed ratio 2/1 as were in the past.
Listeners to a correct performance in "pure intonation" may respond by being amazed at "how good the violin can sound" - see above comments. However, some listeners who spent too long time embracing some particular system, instrument or teaching may find the sound strange or even offensive, which may be expected. Some may not notice a difference. However one point is sure - notes in pure intonation will have different pitch from those tempered, that is, all notes but one will be sharper, if not flatter.
