Which brings me to my second rant.

Right now in Japan the anime scene is different. A) There's no more shows with that manly vibe like DBZ, Fist of the North Star, G Gundam, etc. Any time there's a dude in a show now he's some borderline homo who has to be "deep" thanks to Evangelion. Also there's a trend going on of creators now being lazy and writing these stupid lolicon shows. Long story short this series called Haruhi Suzumiya came out and became a big hit. Then Lucky Star, K-ON!!, etc came out and became huge. All those shows are about "little girls in skimpy outfits doing~kawaii~ cute things". You got all these semi-pedos buying this shit like hotcakes. They can afford paying ridiculous prices for the DVD's because they have no lives and don't buy anything else so companies have started making TONS of this shit. Yeah the whole point to that video is "buy for Funimation shit to save the industry". The survival on the anime industry doesn't have shit to do with western releases unless you care about dubs (which I do not). The biggest anime boom was during the 80s BEFORE any dubs existed. The studios who actually make the anime hardly get a profit from it besides the initial licensing fee when a dubbing company gets the rights to the seires. What it comes down to is a lot of the animators for the lesser known shows don't get paid as much so those companies started jacking up the prices on their DVD's to compensate, then the bigger ones like Toei etc decided "oh shit, we'll just raise our prices too" so now we're at $300 DBKai DVD's with FOUR FUCKING EPISODES per DVD in Japan. Japan is starting to put English subs on their anime releases now so if these anti piracy tards really wanted to support the industry they'd buy it directly from Japan.
