Old alternative metal like Alice in Chains, Faith No More, and Helmet is true metal but modern alternative metal like Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin isn't. Metalcore is true metal to some degree. Some bands are more core than metal and vice versa for others. METALcore is Killswitch Engage, Trivium, and As I Lay Dying; metalCORE is Hatebreed, The Devil Wears Prada, and Black Veil Brides.

Is that good enough for you?

True metal is simply music that is stays faithful to the original concept of metal being heavy, loud, and aggressive. It's not watered-down or pussied out in any way. Most hair metal is not true metal but there are exceptions. For example, Poison and Whitesnake are just gussied up hard rock but Mötley Crüe and Twisted Sister are metal. Virtually all nu-metal is not true metal but some bands still lean more towards metal than others. Under no circumstances are Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park metal but bands like KoЯn and Deftones sound more metal instead of alternative and hip-hop.

I'll tell you what's laughable, your patthetic insult about Steve Harris having more talent in his digits than me. I haven't heard that one since elementary school! XD

I'm only stating the facts that are pretty damn obvious to everyone except you narrow-minded Americans. Iron Maiden may have been metal at one point but now they're hardly metal at all, if you fail to hear that in their music then you really are narrow-minded.

Oh, and if you honestly just went to listen to Iron Maiden for the sake of spiting me then you need to get out more, kid. Seriously, if I'm having an influence on what you do in reality then your relationship with the internet is very unhealthy.
