PET SEMETARY was pretty good-- Certainly one of the better adaptations of a King novel, but not the best story to begin with. (I wish the whole thing had just been about the backstory, instead-- The story Judd tells about the soldier they had brought back in the 40s.) I don't remember there being a dog in the first one-- I believe they bring a dog back in PET SEMETARY 2.

HALLOWEEN 3 was "SEASON OF THE WITCH"-- The one WITHOUT Michael, that stood on its own, Carpenter's original idea for the HALLOWEEN series was for all of them to take place on Halloween, but be otherwise unrelated. My friends and I had a good time at JASON VS FREDDY-- Not that the movie was good, but we enjoyed heckling it!

The original HALLOWEEN is one of the all-time classic great horror films. Of the sequels, as far as I'm concerned, only 3 is actually worth watching. In all the others, we just learn more and more about a character who is only scary because he's MYSTERIOUS-- So they basically just killed Michael Myers by inches in every film. I frankly think Jason was an improvement on Michael Myers as far as just being "the unkillable slasher"-- In other words, Jason was more interesting and made more sense coming back again and again, even though Michael is an intrinsically better character.

I was a pretty big fan of the show, but the first movie ("Fight the Future") was very disappointing, The second, more recent movie,("I Want to Believe") was a bit better, but not really any better than an average episode. My favorite episodes of the show were the monster-of-the-week ones, rather than the whole conspiracy story arc. I loved LIVE BAIT, the "flat worm man" episode, and the "Fiji Mermaid" episode.

I love the novel-- The Kubrick adaptation is nothing like the novel, but is memorable and scary, while the made for TV miniseries slavishly follows the book, but is poorly directed and edited, and utterly fails to scare.
