Religion.... Religion........ Religion............
I'm not religious. That's not where a problem will occur, because even if you are religious there's little chance that you will care about my thoughts. Give me a chance, I'll cause an argument with you or someone you know. I'm not a big religious zealot. Actually, I believe that religion is meant for a bunch of weak minded people that need to believe that after they die there's something more. I obviously can't prove anything about post-death happenings. I will tell you that I'm not the only person that thinks people believe in religion in order to gamble that if there is an after-life, they are part of it. I'm just saying I'm not wasting my time with a useless bet like religion. The greatest thing mankind can do is to disregard religion, some people can't accept that they do not understand the truths of the universe, or that we in fact do not serve any purpose, other than to simply be. So they create these insane fairy tales to fill in all of the gaps. So long as the universe had a beginning, we could suppose it had a creator. But if the universe is completely self contained, having no boundary or edge, it would neither be created nor destroyed it would simply be. What place, then, for a creator? Religion is a by product of fear, for much of human history it may have been a necessary evil, but why was it more evil than necessary? Isn't killing people in the name of 'God' a pretty good definition of insanity. What people fail to realize is that these are stories. Fables. Myths. There is no horned man with a spiked tail ready to do you harm, just like there are no centaurs or genies. Religions are really an acculumated collection of human behavior. These things took hundreds of years to write. In that time, every permutation of human behavior — from the very noble to the very dispicable has been recorded. You read these books because people 1,000 years ago are emotionally the same as they are today. Use it as a guide on what people are capable of. Read it as a collection of fictional parables that illustrate human behaviors, but don't ever think that shit is REAL. Good luck with your gamble and thanks for keeping enough money in the church so that more priests can be hidden away and transferred around to avoid justice.
