Ah, it's that lovely woman again. I came back to the Carpenters about 18 months ago and just can't shake the habit of listening to their songs. If only Karen was still around to join Richard for a Christmas special this year.

Much as I like George Harrison, this song doesn't quite have the right qualities for a Bond film. How about trying I Believe You (1978) by the Carpenters, which would work much like Nobody Does It Better does for The Spy Who Loved Me ?

@Vericacious Also, setting up for a live performance would have taken a lot of time- time that could be ill-afforded (for one song) in the fast-moving world of television.

@thereportersclinic I suggest you listen to this on a decent sound system. Even something as seemingly merely anodyne as Please Mr Postman is quite shockingly good when played properly. And, if you can get it, try the Carpenters SACD.
