NOTE: for anyone who's been paying attention, Nessa and Kaine are twins. After being changed back to their original states, their personalities changed a bit. Such as, Nessa is more likely to be angry, and Kaine... He's still calm. Haha.
Nessa, a demon who recently had her powers of transformation taken away by a demon overlord, finds herself in a world that she didn't want to put herself in. When her previous demon master sends her to Earth to destroy any good soul, she was all for it until she realized it was more than she was ready for. After meeting Shego when both of them are at a young age, she sees that having a good soul isn't a bad thing. Nessa starts questioning her motives and goes into hiding from the demons. She disguises herself as a neko(Japanese for cat). In many animes, there are beings that have neko attributes but appear human. She tells all her friends she was born that way. After being in that form for so long, she gets so used to it that she's permanently set that way. When her master sees her this way, he calls it a betrayal; he ends up beating her and turning her back to normal in the most painful way. Shay becomes her love interest after she has her fun with plenty of other women and men. Her twin brother, Kaine, who was taken away from her life at a young age recently appears, and after seeing her sister in the form previously described, decides that if she doesn't want her friends to know her true form, he'll be supportive and takes the form of a cat demon as well to be a perfect twin. When she is forced back, he changes back easily.
When Kaine was being raised, he had an anger issue because of the fact that he was weak, or so he thought. What year he and his sister were born is never determined. After he and Nessa were inspected as children, he could not cut it. He was not strong enough to survive, but his sister was taken in. Also, he was too tenderhearted and calm as a child, whereas you were to be violent and willing to do anything. The standards for boys and girls in their world are very different. Neglected, he was thrown onto Earth to die by his own sister, neither of them knowing this was to happen. He was taken in as a child after being found in the middle of a crop field as a farmer was doing his daily routes. How he appeared there is never said. He was treated as a loved son and he grew emotionally attached to the farmer. The farmer was once in several armies, eventually teaching Kaine many different fighting techniques from all around the world. As he grew to his immortality age, "21", he and his "father" traveled around the world. His favorite place was Australia and grew to love the culture, and even picked up his own accent. Years later, his guardian (and father) was murdered, and he vowed to never be angered again. He learned to control every speck of emotion and now can control others'. After meeting his long lost twin sister, he vows to be the big brother he could never be. Well, only older by about 7 minutes. He protects his sister after she is found by her master and beaten (previous paragraph) and never leaves her side, figuratively speaking. He takes the role of the older brother who threatens other "suitors" never to hurt her or he'll hurt them. As so, Shay doesn't like him very much. Kaine really doesn't care, so long as he doesn't hurt Nessa.
