About this user
Hello!I always get so freaked out by these "about me" boxes..
but I guess i'll just give it a shot.
My name is Valerie (Val or Vail to some)
I was born and bred in Brooklyn, NY.
Growing up i was super lucky and got to travel a lot since my parents worked for the airlines.
I love traveling since I get to see new places and learn about so many things that I never knew about!
I started out performing when I was three when I joined a dance studio like every good little Brooklyn girl.
But over the years, the Brooklyn Glitz and Glama, dance studio drama, and high prices for the glittery bow strategically placed in my generic hair piece became a bit too confining for me.
However, my love for the stage and the theatrical experience expanded and I soon joined TADA! youth theatre based in Chelsea, NY when I saw an ad for the audition in the NY Post (who knew the Post was good for something).
I worked my little preadolescent butt off got great training and made some of the best friends of my life. I also got to perform at many NYC events like the Goodwill Games and even between book shelves at the Chelsea barnes and noble (RIP- you closed because you couldn't afford your rent.. when barnes and noble can't afford rent we are certainly in trouble)
i continued performing throughout junior high and high school and focused even harder when getting my bfa in college.
theatre has always been a major part of my life and i appreciate it's presence so much for it's history and the voice that it has granted me through good times and bad.
I am extremely frightened of computers, and any sort of technological advancements that are more intense than parchment paper, a quill pen, and candlelight are not normally a part of my life....
But I am trying to change that..
I am starting this page as my graduation looms near..and my entrance into the "real" world gets closer and closer everyday
i appreciate any feedback and ideas as artistic expression is ultimately a collaborative art
I am putting myself and my work out there which is really scary... but also necessary..
Peace
Val
