When Are Director's Cuts Neccessary?
Vince and Captain Logan discuss director's cuts of movies, deleted scenes, and when extra cuts are neccessary.
Join the Geekvolution at wearegeeks...
One movie I prefer the director's cut for is The Hangover (the original, not the shitty remake ... I mean sequel) which adds 2-3 scenes in that are very good jokes and a scene at the end that covers an unanswered question about how the dad reacted to the guys trashing his car in Vegas.
I also pr...

Treksperts Extra: Name That Star Trek Tune

Jeez, some of those knockoff recordings are really bad (if they were sourced from professional compilations. If they're homemade I withdraw the statement).
I'd also like to note that it would be more accurate to call #7 Spock's Theme from both Star Trek 2 and 3. It's James Horner and he carried ...

I will modestly score myself a 13 out of 15 on this. I pegged the opera piece was from that Voyager episode about the Doctor being a singer, though I suspected it could have been sourced from one of the movies, which it was (so kind of a trick question, there). And I mistook the music from The Vi...

A big complaint about this movie is how commercial it seems. If you just go to a toy aisle at Target or Walmart the toy cars section is half Cars toys. It's like it's Disney's version of hot wheels, just with eyes. It's a cynical view and I'm sure Lassiter would deny it but it's too blatant not t...

Matthew has a lot of questions about why they made this story but if you watch the Blu-ray extras it's really simple. Finn McMissile was created for the first movie to be a character in a spy movie at a drive-in, but it got cut. The core idea for Cars 2 grew out of Lassiter's promotional tour of ...

I think it's fair to blame Lassiter for any aspect of this film you either enjoy or think is bad. I think Cars is just Lassiter's pet project ... it's no coincidence that he became head of Disney imagineering and suddenly there's a Cars Land at Disneyland (California Adventure, actually).

The argument that TNG led to the fall of the franchise is absurd on its face. It's basically an argument that TNG never needed to exist in the first place. You could just as easily say that TOS led to the downfall of the franchise simply by existing in the first place to allow for the possibility...

I think casting British actors as French people is kind of a joke from the show. The original plan for Voyager was to cast a French woman as a British captain, but the actress didn't work out so they went with Mulgrew. But I understood it as a joke about the two European rivals kind of switching ...

As to your question about why Bay didn't fire Ehren Kruger if he blamed the writing. A couple reasons.
Bay didn't really "apologize" for the last film until this one was finished. You might even say his apology was a sham to get TF fans who hated TF2 back into the theaters.
Also, Kruger wasn't...

Also, is you want to go around chanting "mental problems" to criticize the film, it might behoove you to not then start yelling that you want to kick the writer's ass. It's just a movie, dude.

Superhero Rewind: Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog Review
"Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," (2008). Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion. Directed by Joss Whedon.
@TheDalinkwent Well, I think his point about The Incredibles is that it's too dark for a kids movie, which in turn feeds into the idea that he's too focused on genre expectations. He reviewed Megamind glowingly mostly because of how it played with the formula of a superhero movie but glossed over...

@Geekvolution Understandable. I was talking more for your own personal enjoyment.
