Shoot man, a VR can stand a HUGE overbore, but not on boost. You could take it to 83mm safely for boost, and 85mm for NA.

To answer you guys' question, there really have never been anything but a SOHC VR6. VW put that label on the manifold cover, but it wasn't. They are 2V per cylinder (12V are) and have one cam per bank of cylinders. VR6's are not V6, obviously, but think of them as 2 I-3's connected at the cran...

The reason it changed sounds when warmer was that the secondary air injection had finally finished running. It sounds really wierd when it's warming up, must be the SAI system. Also, you have a loud PS pump. VR6 power steering pumps often have a really annoying whine. You can fix it sometime...

Haha, SupraGuy, for one, nxttruck2002 is f*ckin with you, for another, you're wrong. There would not be detonation. Detonation does not occur under a rich situation. It simply would have not ignited the AF mixture due to having much too little air in the fuel mixture. Fuel doesn't ignite too ...
