I'd play the shit out of a vanilla maplestory server.
Everything past the initial release of leafre felt cheap and simplified. I mean, I liked beta back when you could farm Jr. Balrog or florina beach for 'end-game' equips, but even then, new content coming out was still nice.

Seriously, nobody would give additional money to force someone to take the initial money. I laughed, sure, but I hated watching the plot unfold in such an unrealistic scenario. Kind of a letdown.
