WOULD I EVER!!!!!! Most alarms run on 24 volts. You connect the batteries positive to negative. Then, the remaining positive goes to the positive on the alarm and the remaining negative goes to the negative on the alarm. If it's a 4 wire appliance, then connect the two positives and the two negatives on the alarm. Others run on 240 VAC. In that case, take a dryer plug and cu it and put the two plug and the ground wire in the alarm and plug it in. With a pull station, all that it does is connect the terminals in which wires are connected to. Now for electromechanical horns. When power is applied, the magnet turns on and makes the clapper go up. Then, the other striker makes it go down. That happens really fast causing it to make a deep noise. Electronic horns are just peizos that have another one next to it to produce two noises at once.
