A lot of "wrong" actions in this game involves death, just like the Zork text adventures. I always hated that.

Another interesing thing about the original Secrets Can Kill are the posters and books in reference to the other Her Interactive games, The Vampire Diaries and Mckenzie & Freinds. To me they were not as fun. Vampire Diaries aslo features some of the same music as Secrets Can Kill.

Conversation reminds me of Bionic Hearts, by Winter Wolves games. It's sorta the same thing except the game's more dating sim with a scifi story that's really out there. Try the demo.
