Important to note - I don't take life seriously, at all! If we all lived life by the following mantra, the wise words of the late great Humphrey Lyttleton, then everything would be a lot more fun and far more people would be happy - "As we journey through life, discarding baggage along the way, we should keep an iron grip, to the very end, on the capacity for silliness. It preserves the soul from dessication."

I like Metal, Classic Rock, Modern Rock music (Led Zep are the best band ever, period) and Classical music but unlike some I do understand that there are other kinds of music, and they all have their individual merits (except plastic pop, I honestly can't see where that fits into a civilised society, except to appeal to the lowest common denominator). I also like gaming, but, at least I think, I don't comply to the stereotype (I have a girlfriend, I like outdoors, I don't say things like "you just totally pwned that dude" or "PS3 rulez, Xbox sux" in normal conversation)

Politically I like to think of myself as a centre-right liberal (small l) Conservative. By this I mean aspects of my political agenda are very liberal, such as my stance on religion, race etc, whereas other aspects are very Conservative (pro adventure-Capitalism etc.) Of the few things that does get me riled, racism (and related intolerances) are right up there at the top.

Religiously I am Atheist, but I have no problem with religion or religious people. However, having it pushed on me by them does frustrate me at times. I will happily have a discussion/debate with a religious person, but if it descends into name calling or, worse, ignorant non-factual statements (e.g. it's like that because god did it") then I refuse to have any part of it.

I am a little bit of a grammar Nazi. I had a good education, I realise this, but there are no good excuses for simple grammatical errors, upbringing not withstanding.

Football is officially the worst sport on the planet, with the possible exception of Baseball. Rugby and Cricket are the sports of Kings and Emperors.

Political correctness is another bugbear of mine. Not everything has to be fair all the bloody time (see, I told you I was a true blue Conservative sometimes)! The worst recent example of this that I can think of is in women's cricket. When England play Australia in a test series in the men's game, they compete for the Ashes, an urn reportedly containing the remains of a bail burned in 1882 to represent the death of English cricket (the first time Australia beat England at home). Now that is 130 year old tradition that will, hopefully, continue on indefinitely. But, when the women's game started to gain popularity, and an international calendar was established, the series between England's women and Australia's women was also dubbed "the Ashes" in some vague attempt not to be sexist. This is ridiculous. They are not competing for the Ashes, but they are competing at the highest level of their chosen sport for their country. Why can't it just be left at that! In fact, to me, calling it the Ashes in some ways states that the women's game should show subservience to the men's, that they must follow the exact traditions and that they can not have their own, original ideas. Anyway, rant over. I'd like to point out that I have no qualms with women's cricket as a sport, it is in fact very enjoyable, and there is some serious talent on show (no, not that kind of talent).

So that's a little about me, if you've read it all, then you are as sad as I am for writing it!
