Thankyou! Your videos will be a big help with the BMC B series engine rebuild I am starting for my Morris Marina!

Handy that British Leyland used the same engine for so many cars!

Gutted that you're shutting shop.

Have just found these videos, and think they're the best thing on youtube.

You are awesome.

I have a 1970 MGB. It stopped working one morning. I had to changed the clamp that holds onto the (+) post on the first battery. Now, I get nothing when I put the key in, no lights, not even a click when I turn the key. Could it be a ground front that cable? And where do I look to find the snap?

I'm shocked to see you go so shortly after I discovered your valuable contributiones to MG-maintenance. There's an end to everything I guess, but your liveliness and enthousiasm for the brand will duly be missed. I included almost all of your YouTube references into many of my own contributions to the Dutch MG Car Club site forum on repairs. Now I have to find out myself again. And I'm no youngster either, so where will everything end? Don (USA MGB Tourer 1972 model year, not gone to the States but imported to Holland via Belgium)

What a terrible shame. Another one bites the dust. In the UK in the 1970s and 1980 close to where I used to live was a variety of small business where you could get things done, rebores, crank regrinds, welding, sandblasting, spoke wheel rebuilds, clutch rebuilds and water radiator repairs. All are gone along with the skills of the men who did them. Now even the Car Mechanic job has gone and been de-valued to become fitters. Gone are the days of reapiring engines just swopping parts.

Best wishes Michael John York (morrisminormods) UK

Hi from the UK. I have just come across your videos and I have to say that the last ones brought some tears to my eyes. I understand something of what you are going through in that in 2002 I had to close-up my TV & VCR repair shop for the last time. I had trained from college and traded successfully for seven or so years until cheap imports and customer demand for repairs dropped to such a low level that I was forced to close. I am now retraining to work in teaching/healthcare but I will always miss the challenge of bringing customer's equipment back to life. I really wish that the public would learn to respect the technically trained more and be prepared to pay fairly for a job well done. Good luck with everything that you do now.

Hey John, I've learned alot from your website over the years when it comes to working on my 1974 MGB. Trouble is I still feel iffy about tuning HS4 carbs. My car's engine isn't original and those are the carbs I have. Do you think you could post a video of how to tune them? Thank you and keep up the good work.

Thanks for these videos, they are very enlightening. What I think would be great in this youtube format that can't be described in a shop manual are the sounds that particular problems make. It would be great to hear what a worn rocker shaft sounds like, or an exhaust leak, or piston slap, etc. I'm sure you guys have plenty of cars come into your shop with these stereotyped sounds that you could record to show your viewers so that they could diagnose the sounds that may be coming from their engines.

Thanks for the most helpful MG videos around!
Tim
