In February 2010, UN Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon fully endorsed the GAID initiative of building a web-based Millennium Development Goals Electronic Center (MDG eCenter)

MDG eCenter is a virtual Center of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Solutions for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that aims to serve as a vital resource for developing countries.

and graciously extended his personal patronage to the project, assuming the role of "Honorary Chair" of GAID. In this context, he appointed Mr. Choi Soon-Hong, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO) as his focal point for this project. The MDG eCenter will continue to be spearheaded by the GAID Chairman, Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, who with an extended term will provide strong leadership until 2013.
