The UTIU, established through the Decree of 15th April 2005 by the Ministry of University, Education and Research, confers academic qualifications legally acknowledged in Italy, in Europe and in Mediterranean countries, and which are related to first-level degrees, post-graduate degrees, research doctorates and master's degrees. In the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO prestigious professors from important universities worldwide teach in Internet based real and virtual spaces in Italian, French, English and Arabic.

Thanks to RAI NETTUNO SAT 1 satellite television channel, which broadcasts free 24 hours a day lectures, using HotBird satellite, at 13° East, controlled by EUTELSAT and covering all Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, access to knowledge is being democratised. In Italy it is possible to watch RAI NETTUNO SAT 1 either by tuning in to Sky 822 channel or by using a decoder.
