Help Me Get to Davos: About one-third of the evaluation of each submission is based on the response from the YouTube community. So every positive rating, comment, and view brings me one step closer to being the guy they pick to go to Davos. [EDIT: Although this was in the rules, the submission that was ultimately chosen as the winner had little or no support from the YouTube community.]

Given my experience doing this project, I'd like to think I'd be a great representative of the YouTube community at the World Economic Forum. And, if I can make videos from rural Bangladesh doing the same from Switzerland should be a piece of cake :)

Quick Summary for the Davos Committee: Can An Obama Administration Improve the State of the World in 2009? Yes, but he can't do it alone. We live in a community of nations and the United States is but one part of it. We will need support from European leaders, leaders from Russia, China, and (most importantly) the developing world. Because improving the world means addressing global poverty. Failure to do so will create bigger problems that we will just have to deal with down the road.

Over 1.1 billion people in the world don't have access to clean drinking water. When I heard of a nanotech water purifier that can be used to purify water from even fecal matter contaminated sources, I couldn't help but test it out the "uncultured" way.

The decision to come back home for a break was not a choice I made lightly. It was only in packing up to go home, that I realized how much I had to sacrifice in order to do this project. This video takes a slightly sadder tone to reflect the kind of feelings I had as I landed in Hong Kong on my way back home (this was before the Tour de Nerdfighting).

Since I dont use donations to pay for my living expenses (or to buy the airplane tickets I needed to fly home), I've completely emptied out my life savings doing this project. My parents were dipping into their own savings to help me do this project but with the downturn in the economy, they dont have much savings themselves anymore.

The title for the video is a reference to some of the hurdles I had to face during this project. That includes the hospitalization of my mom (who originally came with me as a translator) due to Dengue Fever, the floods, the riots, the military curfew, the cyclone, the earthquake, the minor surgery I had, and now this recent problem I discovered about having iron poisoning/overload from drinking the metal-heavy water common in Bangladesh.

Sometimes things just come to together. I came home to visit my family and fix some broken equipment - but I ended up being able to do some awesome things. I got to meet Hank and John Green and the Nerdfighter community for the first time. And together we'll be raising money for Save the Children USA.

The money raised goes to help pay for what you guys vote on from my Challenge Poverty video. Hopefully this means I might be able to do more than I had originally budgeted for. This is what I mean when I say "YouTube with a Purpose".

It's thanks to YouTube that John Green (in Indianapolis) and Hank Green (in Missoula, Montana) were able to connect to me here in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Using a donation from Hank, I was able to help a needy family in a remote (and military controlled) region of Bangladesh called the Chittagong Hill-Tracts. The journey was quite long and this video helps the highlight how remote this region is.

Did you know that it would only take ONE DAY'S worth of Pentagon funding to provide protection against malaria for every man, woman, and child in Africa for five years? Don't take my word for it - economist Dr. Jeffrey Sachs (author of "The End of Poverty") did the math.

April 25th is World Malaria Day. To help commemorate this day, I decided to share some of the work I have been doing here in Bangladesh that have focused on fighting malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases.
